Vet-Cure Veterinary Laser Therapy Device - handheld low-level laser for pain relief and healing in pets
The Vet-Cure, available from Pet Pharma, is a portable, rechargeable Class 3B laser therapy device for dogs, cats, horses and other animals. It combines five 808 nm infrared laser diodes with ten 650 nm red laser diodes (800 mW total output) to deliver low-level laser therapy (LLLT) at home or in the practice: a drug-free, non-invasive way to help reduce pain and inflammation and support the healing of tissue.
What is low-level laser therapy?
Low-level laser therapy (also called photobiomodulation) delivers non-thermal light to injured tissue for a few minutes per session. The light is absorbed by the cells, which respond with a higher rate of metabolism. According to the manufacturer this results in pain relief, better circulation, reduced inflammation and a faster healing process, without medication or surgery. Treatments are painless: most animals only feel a gentle, soothing warmth.
How does the Vet-Cure work?
The 808 nm infrared beams penetrate deep into muscles, tendons and joints, while the 650 nm red beams work on the skin and superficial tissue and stimulate blood circulation. Hold the treatment head against the affected area and choose pulse or continuous mode, one of three power levels and a treatment time of 5 to 30 minutes (in 5-minute steps) on the LCD screen. The manufacturer recommends starting with the lowest power level and short sessions of 5-10 minutes, two to three times a day, and building up over the following weeks.
