The LED Knee Pad is a flexible light therapy wrap shaped to sit around a joint. Its 90 LEDs deliver 660 nm red and 850 nm near-infrared light to the knee, hock, elbow or carpus of a dog or horse, while the opening in the middle keeps the joint free to bend. Velcro straps hold the pad in place and the wireless rechargeable controller means the animal can move around during the 20-minute session.

How does LED light therapy work?

LED light therapy (photobiomodulation) uses red and near-infrared light to stimulate energy production in the cells. The 660 nm red light treats the skin and superficial tissue; the 850 nm near-infrared light reaches deeper into muscles, tendons and joints. Every LED holds two 850 nm chips and one 660 nm chip. The manufacturer describes it as a safe, painless, non-invasive and drug-free form of treatment.

Modes and settings

The battery controller offers continuous output for pain relief, wound healing, inflammation and mobility, plus pulsed output at 10 Hz and 40 Hz. Power intensity is adjustable in three steps (P1-P3) and the default treatment time is 20 minutes. The pad is waterproof and made of a non-stick hair material with a PVC cover, so hair and dirt wipe off easily.
